How long can you wait to handle your guinea pigs?

After I get my 2 female piggies in 6 and a half weeks, I know I should wait at LEAST 3 days until you handle them, but I will be so anxious, is there any way I could handle them within at least 12 hours?? I know its quick, and it sounds childish, but wouldn't everyone want play with their new pets? Thanks in advance!! :) (No rude comments, I did TONS and LOADS of research).
