What is "meniscus"??????

When you are using the graduated cylinder, the surface tension of the water makes the surface of the water form a bit of a U shape in the cylinder. The meniscus is the range in the graduated cylinder in which the surface of the water exists. All cylinders and flasks are calibrated so that you measure the liquid at the bottom of the meniscus (at the bottom of the U).
