Why did I let this piss me off?

My "gf" was sayin hw she's going to go lay in bed with her friend & watch movies & I got pissed off even though her friend is 100% straight. I said it upset me that age told me and she went on "blahh blahh...lemme guess u'll be mad while were holding hands & if I give her a piggy back ride..etc at the movies" etc like wtf why did she even have to go overboard & say all the extra stuff. Some stuff came up & I couldn't go with her to the movies so her grieve is filling my spot. Her friend has a bf & Is 100% straight, or so she claims to be. Am I wrong for getting jealous? Am I wrong for feeling like she purposely said extra stuff to anger me.?

yup! i had a non repairable torn meniscus at age 61. you,re young, and have more options than me. i now have a total replacement of my left knee. just recently i tore both right knee menisci. i cannot repair them, as i,m too old. go back to the orthopedic surgeon, and have a good exam. knees are easier to repair when you,re young.

I am trying to build my family tree and I found a great web site to do so at geni.com. Its set up so that when you add people to your tree you can put their e-mail in and send a request for them to join and they can add to the tree so you don't have to fill everything in yourself and they can add stuff you don't know. The problem is the site doesn't offer genealogy or a family finder to research the past. Everyone I have invited has joined and started adding what they could if I hadn't already put it in. Down side is that my parents don't know anything past their grandparents and don't even know if their grandparents had siblings. I was wondering if anyone knew a good site for finding people in your past that is 100% free (not looking for free trials), or know a way to get info on finding out who your related to. Side note I no longer live anywhere near where I was born and raised (also where the most of my family grew up but also moved away) so going to search public records is kinda out of the question. Have i torn my meniscus/cartilage?

Ive had a bad knee for about 3 month now. It often catches when walking and cracks while doing pivoting motions. I am not sure but i think the injury first started while i was dancin at the end of january. I bent down to the floor crouching on my knees and my knee locked. Also, i sometimes get the sensation that my knee is giving way and feels unstable. It sometimes hurts whilst walking too. I have looked online and my symptoms relate to a torn meniscus which apparently needs surgery. I am obly 12 and am going on holiday on june 27th. I am going to the doctors soon but the only appointments at the moment are emergency ones. What have i done to my knee and what will the recovery time be and will i need crutches/knee brace etc... Dislocated knee cap, need help!?

I dislocated my knee cap playing soccer, and it slid back into place when the onsite trainers straightened my leg. I went to the doctor and they are having me get an MRI just to make sure that there is no muscle tearing (acl, or meniscus). I have a splint that I wear when I leave the house, and I do not wear it at home. My knee feels really weak, is that because of the dislocation or could I have actually torn something??

Meniscectomy-possible implications later in life?

I am a 20yo male 360lbs. I've recently learned that I have to get a meniscectomy on my left knee after a random injury working (a scarer at a haunted hayride). I try to be active, and I need to lose quite a bit of weight to be healthy. Are there any possible problems I will have later in life if I have my meniscus cartilage completely removed? Will they replace it with synthetic cartilage? I'm in a very physical line of work (farming). I need to know if I will need a complete knee replacement earlier than old age. I would think that missing cartilage will wear a knee pretty badly.

Why is my new computer so slow?

I just recently got a new computer. Its the Pink Dell Inspiron computer. I updated it, added Norton Security, i have the sims 3 games on it, minecraft, and little desktop add-ons. But before i even had the sims or minecraft on it, it still was the same. When it starts up it takes about 20 minutes for it to actually be accessible (to where i can actually click on something) and it takes about 20 more minutes for my browser to pop up. i have to click out of it and be paitent and i am running out of my patience. sometimes my whole computer background doesnt respond (Windows Explorer as well) . The task manager doesnt respond quick like my siblings computer when my computer is in fact supposed to be faster than his. It says my CPU usage is high when i go on internet explorer or firefox etc. ... I just got it 2 months ago. But its acting like its 100000 years old. help?

Why does my husband get so angry when I am sick?

My husband of 8 years is always so hateful, negative, and unsupportive when I am sick wether it is something little or something big. He says he doesn't care when I am sick anymore because I am sick all the time. I am not sick all the time. Last year I was having severe abdominal pains for a few months and was undergoing tests. No one could figure it out. It was to the point where I was vomitng and convlusing from the pain. The ER finally found a 7 centimeter tumor on my ovary that had twisted the ovary around twice cutting off the blood supply. I had surgery to remove it right away. He was out of the country and when he returned the day after my surgery he pushed me to go home so they won't charge for more days even though I couldn't walk. The tumor was too large to just come out the belly button so they cut open my stomach. So I went home and that night he was yelling at me and making me cry because of how much the surgery was going to cost because we don't have insurance. Meanwhile they are doing a biopsy of the tumor to see if it is cancerous (they had originally prepapred me to have a complete hysterectomy and I am only 28, but they were able to save everything since they didn't see signs of cancer). He made me cry and of course I was already in pain. He didn't help with our two kids ages 4 and 1. My mother and sister had to come 8 hours from their home to stay with me so someone could change their diapers and feed them. I applied for indigent care and got the surgery completely paid for. I even have a plan with the hostpital now. So I only pay 10 bucks copay. So whenever I go for my follow up ultrasounds and obgyn tests he gets so pissed off at me. And the other night I had severe abdominal pains again and I couldn't walk. I went to the ER and took the baby with me and he went to his friend's party. All his friends wanted to know why he didn't go with me. He told everyone including me before I left for the ER. that it was all in my head. He was married to a psychologist before me so he knows everything about psychology now and he says I am manifesting illnesses in my head and I need to see a shrink not a dr. A few years ago I tore my meniscus on my knee that I had once broken in high school. I got an mri and they wanted to do surgery. He said no way and suck it up. So I continued to work as a waitress 40 hours a week on my leg limping around in pain. Then last year he tears his meniscus and he goes to have surgery right away and gets a few months of therapy and buys himself an ultrasound therapy machine and an electric stim. therapy machine online and fancy knee wraps and ice packs and acts like a big baby and doesn't work for almost a year. So why is it ok for him and not for me. Also since the surgery and birth of my children I get UTI's once a month. So I have to go for antibiotics. I don't know why. I am not diabetic and I wipe front to back and I am a very clean person. I think it has something to do with the crappy catheter jobs done at the hospital all three times I was in (two births and one surgery). But he gets mad and again says I just enjoy going to the doctor. Who can enjoy going because it hurts to pee and then you have to wait 6 hours at dr. office and then go take 2 weeks of anitbiotics that make you nauseous and give you a yeast infection. Who enjoys that? Not me!! So what is his problem. When I got back from the ER that one night he said "So was it worth it. I haven't slept all night. You ruined my night. So what's wrong with you now. Hurry up and get into bed and stop making noise (I left for the er at 10 at night and got back at 5 am. I had to drive myself after a morphine shot and it wasn't appendicitis it was related to my ovary again a cyst burst). Now he is sick with a cold today and he is yelling at me like it is my fault he has to go to work. What is his problem?

Confused, what could have happened?

Okay i was at my guy friends soccer game he's 15 and he got tripped and someone stepped on his knee really hard when it was at a weird angle and there was this pop cause i saw and heard it all....he grabbed his knee but then after about 2 minutes he was still on the ground and he started to get out of it and then he fainted so his coach called 911 cause he didn't know what was wrong...t turned out he has a torn acl and meniscus or whatever its called lol....but why did he pass out like that it was weird any ideas of what it could of been???

What have I done to my knee?

I injured my knee a few years ago and I'm starting to have alot of pain in it again.?

Im in the military and suffered a knee injury a few years ago while playing racket ball. Long story short - I fractured my patella and tore my meniscus when my opponent slammed into my knee. I was able to avoid surgery though physical therapy but my knee has never been the same. I have been running more lately(which is not an option) and my knee has been hurting more and more. After running there is some swelling under the knee cap(not behind). What can I do to help this? The obvious answer is stop running or go back to the doctor. I was hoping for some sort of brace that will assist and allow me to continue running. Any advice would be appreciated.

3 week old kitten without mom.. ?

I took in a 3 week old kitten from my friends neighbor who didn't know how to care for them (her other siblings died because of it :() there mom was hit by a car so I am bottle feeding her and caring for her until she is old enough to live out on there farm. She is getting sheeps milk every 4 to 5 hours and a little bit of wellness canned food every other feeding. She still needs help going to the bathroom (she wasn't in the best of shape when I got her) i've never done this before but am learning and she is doing much better :). My female guinea pig is pregnant, What is the best fresh veggies I can give her?

I purchased her from a pet shop where she was caged alone so I didn't suspect a thing, but noticed that she had movement in her belly while holding her on the way home. She also has a sore on one ear that seams to be getting bigger. She has gotten noticeably bigger the two weeks I've had her. I was planning on keeping her with another guinea pig, but since I found out she was pregnant, I've kept them separated. Merlin is the other piggy and separated because he's male. I was planning on getting him neutered ASAP. But, now since i found out Gabriella (female GP) is pregnant, I am getting a separate cage for the boys...That is if any of the babies are male. Any suggestions for the best fresh veggies and fruits as well as good soap to bathe Gabby in or medicine to help with her ear would be appreciated. I don't see any type of visible bugs on her ear. And it's just one side. Also is it safe to bathe her pregnant? How far along could she be if her babies kicks are visible as well as her nipples?

Do PFS knee ever go away?

I have Patellar Femoral Syndrome apperantly both my knees are shifting inward... like my right knee is shifting to the left and my left one is shifting to the right. I got my current guinea pig last Friday. It's a female Agouti and white(: Her name is Pappy :D I love her dearly. She's the best pet I've had in a while...Within the past few days she's become very inactive.. :( I think she's lonely. Her "cage" is a storage bin with holes in the top..I know that's wrong but it's the best I could do for the time being. I found out that you needed to keep guinea pigs in pairs the other day, because the lady at the pet store failed to tell me when I got Pappy. :/ I talked my parents into taking me back to the pet store so I could get another piggy:D It's been a week, so what are the chances they'll be from the same litter? Did i tear my ACL or MCL or MENISCUS?

OK, so literally 2 years ago i tore my right ACL and it has been a long process to getting back into a fully recovered state. I play soccer and yesterday i had a championship game. I was going for the ball, and a girl put her legs between me and the ball. So naturally I jumped over them when landing (with my feet already on the ground) this girl who was probably about 20-30lbs heavier then me just took me out. I heard a crack or a snap noise. But it didn't feel totally like my ACL injury because i could get up, I just couldn't run immediately. My friends helped me walk off half the field, but then I could walk with a little limp but pretty much normally. Now I don't recall where it hurt to begin, but right now I feel a lot of tension or pressure (it's the left leg) on the left side of my leg. I can walk up and down stairs, but it feels a lot of pressure and sometimes hurts. But what really hurts is bending it all the way, I did this less then 24 hours though. So if anyone can give me their input that would be great. Also my orthopedic told me I have naturally loose joints, and I'm a girl. (Girls are more pronee to these injuries). I'm really nervous and don't exactly know what they mean when people say does you knee feel like it's "caving in" so please help me I'm totally nervous and don't want to go through this process again. LCL/Menicus tear in knee?

So I went to the orthopedic doctor yesterday. I am getting an MRI tomorrow on my left knee. I'm not quite sure what the results might be, and I'm a little nervous. He did some tests to see where the pain was and concluded that I might have contusions (bruises) or a tear on either my LCL or Meniscus. He took some xrays and said that my bones were fine but decided I needed an MRI to see my ligaments. The pain is on the outside of my left knee, there is bruising and swelling and it is tender (hurts to touch). My leg is also stiff, but I am still able to walk on it, but it kind of hurts on the outside when I do so. So basically about a week and a half ago I was playing basketball and it just started hurting? I did not hear or feel a pop, but it made me limp for a few days when running. Like 2 days after I was walking and I felt a little popping on the inside but that only lasted about 2 min and didn't hurt. So what do you think is wrong? Did I tear it or what? And also do you think it is my LCL or meniscus? I will be getting the results back Friday morning and I have an appointment scheduled so we can talk but I just kind of want to know what might be the problem? Thanks

Female guinea pig names?

I am going to get 2 female guinea pigs in late July. I am buying them from Petsmart. (I don't live near a small animal shelter, sorry). Anyway, I went to Petsmart today, to look at cages and see the piggies, and I found 2 that I want. One of them has white fur, with some black on her back, and black around her eyes and on top of her head. The other one has black fur with small light brown and white spots randomly on her fur. I don't know what to name the 2nd one. The first one, (black and white) I want to name Pepsi, but I don't know what to name the other one. Any good names for a female piggie? Thanks in advance! Torn meniscus clicking sound?

I am showing most signs of a tear in my medial meniscus except a clicking sounds. There is a little bit of a grinding and slightly mechanical feeling but no audible clicking. Does this mean I do not have a meniscus tear if there is no clicking? Thanks

Knee Injury: MCL or Medial Meniscus? ?

For a while now I have been experiencing pain along the inner side of my knee but over the weekend at a softball tournament it got worse. I don't remember a specific injury however it is quite painful. When I walk my inner knee feels tight and has pain with full extension and bending all the way. Also, pivoting to the left (this is my left knee) hurts significantly. There is minimal bruising and swelling but it takes a lot of force for me to bruise. There is also tenderness and pain when I press on about an inch over from my kneecap and just a little lower from it. Would this be a meniscus or mcl injury? My coach wants me to get it looked at but my mom isn't concerned. Will it get worse? Also what type of treatments are involved? I have been icing and whatnot but there is no change. Also, I play alot of softball, so can I still play? Or would I have to take time off? Thanks a bunch :)

I'm 25 and graduated from college last year. I studied what he pushed me to study (he tried it in his 40s but gave up cuz it was too hard to work/manage a family and study at the same time). I'm the first born and have always been the one to listen to my parents. He's very domintaing and is the kind ofperson you who u can never ever win an argument with. I initally liked the subject i studied but it honestly wasn't my first option. I know for a fact that he pushed me to it to fullfil his own dreams of studying it. Also, to brag to the rest of the family and friends that his daughter is studying it. Well, I failed a module in college and couldn't graduate that year and graduated one year later. He was angry abt it because he didn't have my gradauting pics framed for the world to see...not becaue I had failed the subject. It's been almost a yr since I graduated and i'm still jobless. I'm trying my best but no job wants me. I really shd have taken up teaching becasue that is what I originally wanted and the way he responded to my choice was as if to say anyone can be a teacher..there's no glory in it. He thinks that it's a brainless job and that you don't need skill and it's not prestegious...like the occupation i studied in college. Honestly, i have worked as a part time teacher in an elementary sch for 3 years and hav enever been happier. I worked there to pay rent (dad paid college fees) but it's been nearly a year and his "prestegious" job choice is not looking very prestegious at all. Heck, I'm actually losing interst in it. I always told myself that I'll study what he wanted me to study and graduate, get a job and then go back to college and study waht I WANT to study. let me tell you, i'm trying but it's not working. Everytime i go for an interview and i tell him, he doesnt even wish me luck. He used to tell my younger siblig that i am good for nothing and that i'll work in a factory one day. He also told me this story of how when i was born i looked nothing like how he imagined me to look and he was convinced i was not his child. He says this over and over as if its sometihng funny. well continue therapy it can take a while to get better i went through it for 6 months then got a good result. also you can get braces that hold your knee better. rest also. eventually i would have the surgery to fix just the meniscus.

After meniscal surgery, how long will it be until I can squat?

I had my meniscus repaired back in January, and my surgery was more "heavy duty" than some because I'm still very young and I play sports. I had three sutures put in and was off of crutches after 6 weeks. Shortly after, softball season started and I couldn't play my main position, catcher, because I couldn't squat. It's now been 6 months and I still can't completely squat without feeling some tension on the front inside of my knee. My knee feels completely fine other than that. Dorm: Storage, Chairs, Mattress Pad, etc?

Try your best to make use of what's there and offered before trying to change things. College is expensive so that $50 dollars for the mattress topper thing would be better spent going to your meal plan. You can't buy a new mattress or desk chair because you'd have to store the old one that's already there and you wouldn't have a place to store it. Dorm mattresses/chairs/desks aren't the best but it's the dorms so everyone makes do. They serve their purpose. The room will have a closest and space in the closet but I would suggest stack able storage containers to save space. Not all dorms have the raised bed, that's only a certain style of dorm bed. There's no need for the shoe hanger, it just takes up space and you won't wear most of those shoes anyways.

My sister has a torn pcl and meniscus and has developed OCD in her cartilage (all in her right knee) and she just had surgery for the meniscus and OCD and will be having another in a couple months for her pcl, so she won't be able to move her knee at all for about a year. My ACL is loose after 3 months post op. Is this bad?

I had ACL reconstruction and lateral meniscus removal 11 weeks ago from today. I chose to use the Patella tendon graft. If anyone who had this surgery remembers before it, they done many tests to check for the ACL being torn. One of them was pulling on the shin bone to see if it parts from the thigh. Doing this, you can see your shin bone move kinda deforming your skin, or pushing your skin out. Mine has started to do this again, when I pull on my shin, it departs way more than my other knee. You can tell a big difference. But my knee feels normal and i can run without it giving away. It isn't giving away and i have no pain. I can still straighten it out as well as hyper extend it some, and bend it fully without any pain at all. I'm just worried because that ACL is loose like it was before surgery. Like i said, i can still run, walk without any pain, and bend fully and straighten without any giving out. I'm just worried about the looseness of the ACL. Any suggestions?

Dream of creepy gross guy trying to kill me and siblings?

I can't squat an put pressure on my right knee, when I do it hurts, but it hurts worse (to where I cry) when I straighn it out after I bend it while puttin pressure on it.. It hurts on the backside an down the top of the back of my calf to.. What could be wrong.. This hurts so bad! :'(

I'm having pain in my knee and have gone to the doctor for an MRI but I don't known if it's torn?

I've had meniscus surgery before and they shaved my meniscus, but I have been having pain in my knee again and the doctor sent me for an MRI. When we got to look at the MRI, he said that it wasn't conclusive because the MRI shows something that looks like a tear, but they don't know if it's new or if it's from the shaving from the first surgery. It feels new, but I'm not the doc. Is there a way to find out for sure?

Pain in my right knee... Please help!?!?!?

okay so about a month ago I noticed some slight pain in my right knee. it wasn't much it just hurt when I bent it.The pain was in the back of my right knee, on the right side and it was deep in my knee. Over the past month it's gotten worse and worse and at the begging of the week it was really bothering me. I do play softball. Monday it was bothering me and Tuesday we had a game and so I wore one of my sisters old compression braces and it really didn't bother me that much during the game except when we were in the dug out. Wednesday it was hurting. Thursday we had another game and this time i didn't wear the brace because I felt it didn't really help at all. thursday during the game it really bothered me. and the pain also spread across to the left side of my knee. (still in the back). Friday I woke up and it didn't feel to bad but now the pain is all the way around, even the front part of my knee hurts. The weird thing that I don't get is that it really doesn't bother me when I run or anything, but when I stop and sit down it hurts, it's like a really bad ache deep in my knee. and it throbs. but it's not excruciating. bending my knee really far hurts, and straitening my leg also hurts. there is no clicking but i noticed it has been popping a lot more lately. It also gets pretty stiff. like it takes me awhile to move it after it's been in a spot for awhile. Our school trainer thinks its my meniscus and thinks i should get it checked. but if it's my meniscus wouldn't' it hurt worse when I ran too? Plus wouldn't it be alot more painful? It just aches and throbs when i sit. I need help. should i go get it checked?

My brothers girlfriend is really mean to me and it is upsetting my brother. What should we do?

My brother is 2 years younger than me. He is my only sibling and we get along really well and are really close. He dated this one girl for years and they broke up and his heart was broken. Then he met this new girl who everybody raved about and she seemed really nice and I thought she and I had a lot in common. But then all of a sudden she started being mean to me and picking on me in front of all these people. She embarrassed me and said that my boyfriend was gay because he was from new york. If there was a fight I would win hands down she is only 90lbs and frail and I am a soccer player and athletic build. I feel like I just got to put her in her place. 80 yr Old Dad in End Stage CHF Lasix slowly working?

Our Dad was admitted to the hospital for the second time in a week yesterday. He had over 32 lbs of water weight. They upped him from 1/2 lasix water pill to 4 last week and sent him home. He ended up in ER yesterday with same 30 lbs water being retained. I spoke with his doctor and they are going to remove as much water as they can and send him home in a day or two. I am his health POA and I asked the Dr where do we go from here? He said day by day, he is going to send him home on oxygen and have some home health aides come in a few times per week. I asked the nurse if she though he could continue living alone until this fall and she told me I'd be fortunate to still have him than? I am scared has anyone gone thru this? My Dad is stubborn and wants to die in his home, I want to move him home as my siblings and I live three hours away? How long do we have

Should I be calling my surgeon?

On April 1st, I had an ACL reconstruction surgery and meniscus repair done on my knee. The ACL graft was taken from a donor. I had pain for a few days from my knee but now I am having trouble with my leg hurting. My knee is hardly bothering me at all. The part that is hurting is the part of the leg between knee and ankle in the front of the leg and it's only on the left side of my leg. Today I started having sharp, shooting pain from about the middle of the leg down into my foot. My leg has been hurting in this area for about 3 days. I'm icing it almost 24/7 and taking very strong pain meds for it. I don't know what else to do for it. Can't even do my physical therapy exercises because it hurts so bad to move my leg. I am non weight bearing on this leg for 3 more weeks. I am not worried about blood clots or anything like that because the surgeon who did my surgery has me on daily meds(for 6 weeks) to prevent blood clots. I still have stitches in my knee and the incision sites all look good. I do not get my stitches out for 2 1/2 more weeks. So should I be calling my surgeon in the morning?

i had surgery to remove part of my lateral meniscus about 6 months ago. i can straighten it about 95% of the way. i cant bent it back all the way either. I play basketball and i dont have any problems or pain when i play. is this normal?

You may still have problems with your patellofemoral syndrome but you may also have a torn meniscus. The orthopedist will do a more complete physical exam and probably order an MRI of your knee. If you can't see the ortho until June 10, ask your family doctor if he can order the MRI now so that you will have it when you keep that appointmentt on June 10. Do some guinea pigs have sensitive skin?

I have 14 guinea pigs. Two of the adults are almost pure white abyssinians and I also have a white 2 week old baby with 3 dark colored litter mates. How should I discipline my 5 year old brother?

My 5 year old half brother is just plain and simply bad. He swears, hits, is disrespectful, listens to no one, and says violent sentences such as, "I will cut your head off." His mother, I think, doesn't know how to deal with him, so she just simply doesn't. The only other person that disciplines him is my brother, who doesn't do much good either. Things needed for a 5-6 psi boost turbo kit?

Need advice with knee injury?

I've had a lingering meniscus tear for a couple years. I can run on it fine, just causes me occasional pain, but not enough to warrant surgery. Anyway, a few days ago I sat cris-cross for the first time in a while. Since then, my knee's been pretty swollen and I haven't been able to run on it. I can walk fine, and without pain, but when I try to run, it's just too stiff and throbs afterwards. Any advice?

Anxiety disorder...as bad as PTSD?

Hi, I'm an 18 year old female. Within the past year and a half, I have had two reconstructive knee surgeries for each knee. For both, I had to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in both knees. I got injured in volleyball. Anyway, I no longer trust my body. I am PETRIFIED to do anything that requires impact with my knees. Things like running, jumping, or pivoting. The thought of doing any of them makes me want to cry. I often find myself watching a sport game on TV and see an athlete doing something that could possibly result in injury, and then I'll shutter, close my eyes tight, hug my knees, and turn the TV off. It's like painful for me. My dad is forcing me to go back to the gym next week for the first time since my surgeries. I sat in bed all day crying. I feel like such a loser. I can't stand it. I feel like I'm going psycho. Can this be considered PTSD or another anxiety disorder? Thanks for any suggestions.

Did you get a second opinion before this doctor hacked in to your still growing daughters knee? I was also diagnosed with all that you mentioned when i was about the same age. I used knee braces and physical therapy for years on and off and limited certain activities. Im now 43 and just had both knees repaired [removed tears] and I am so glad that I had waited. If I were you I would take her to a pediatric orthopedic specialist and discuss her now condition with him. FYI, unless your doc told you prior to the surgery, cartilage does not repair well when they try to staple it back together...results are very hit and miss. Hope your daughter finds some relief!!

What are the chances he needs another surgery?

My boyfriend had his medial meniscus repair on December 30. He has been out of his brace and cleared to do things again as long as he is smart about them. His last doctors appointment was supposed to be on March 30 but the doctor ended up having to drain his knee again (this was the second time) of all the fluid so they made another appointment for April 30. After they drained his knee, the swelling was down for a few days and then he decided to run a good four miles (the first time he had since before his surgery). His knee didn't hurt and he has had very little to no pain at all. After his run, his knee swelled up again so he went to see his school trainer who said that he might need surgery again if the swelling doesn't go down. He's been taking ibruprophen twice a day and the swelling is almost compleatly gone and he has no pain and was even able to run yesterday without pain. Do you think his meniscus in not healed and will he need another surgery? He isn't in pain though so would pain be a symptom that it isn't healed?

I am looking for someone who is familiar with the AMA Guidelines to determine percentage of disability.?

I live in Ohio and I injured my left knee at work. My injury is covered by ohio workers compensation. My case is at the point to determine the whole person impairment percentage from my injury. Due to my injury I have had three surgeries on my left knee. The first knee surgery was a partial lateral meniscopy. The second surgery was to remove the rest of the lateral meniscus. The third surgery was a lateral meniscus allograft transplant. I still have to wear a knee brace on my left knee for support and use a cane for walking long distances. I can straighten my leg when I am not bearing any weight on it, but i cannot straighten my leg when standing. I can also only bend my knee enough to walk up stairs. I cannot fully bend my knee. I take two tablets of hydrocodone 2-3 times daily for pain. I also have severe atrophy in my left thigh. During the third surgery, I received nerve damage to my left wrist and hand from the insertion of the iv. I now have occasional numbness and tingling in my palm, thumb, index and middle finger as well as decreased gripping strength with my left hand. Due to the injury I have also been diagnosed with severe depression. For this I see a psychologist twice a month and I am on depression medication as well as medication to sleep. Without the sleeping medication I only get about 3 hours of restless sleep a night. With the medication I am able to sleep 5-7 hours. I was just looking for someone with knowledge about the guidelines and the tables. I have looked at them, but I do not understand how the percentages for whole person impairment is figured out from the tables. Any assistance would be appreciated. I'm just trying to figure out the range of percentage of disability I may be awarded based on my left knee injury and the depression. If you are able to help I would greatly appreciate it.

Should I do a track and field meet on a reconstructed ACL?

About 5 months ago I had an Acl reconstruction and meniscus repair. Physio has been going very well and I only have 1 month left. For the past month I have been doing rugby and track practice and my knee is still doing good. Next wednesday I have a track meet that I am signed up to run a 800 meter run, a 3000 meter run, a relay run and javelin. I was just wondering if doing these runs will tear my acl again or wreck my meniscus repair. Should I get my coach to tape my knee for the runs?

My knee keeps cracking, help!?

So i had knee surgery in November for a meniscus tear, and i know this sounds so extremely stupid so i dont need side comments, but i went back to sports right away because the pain didnt reall bother me that much. And by sports i mean trampoline where i hurt it, but the swelling never went down and now it starting to do this painful crack. My son has been seeing a girl who has a lot of issues. We have noticed that since seeing her (about a year) that he gets depressed, never talks like he's in love, and when he's not on an outing with her, he is on the cell phone (she gave it to him) for 7 or 8 hours or more. When I do talk I get sweaty and shakey. Then when I come home I think damn I should've said such and such. I don't even feel comfortable talking to my mom or aunts. The only person I feel comfortable talking to my sister who is 15 months younger than me. But most of the time she doesn't seem to understand me. I am a disabled vet, discharge last year. I have a service connected injury in which since i got out i had knee surgery last year (arthritis, no cartilage, and torn meniscus) through the V.A. Since then, my knee hasnt been the same and its been in worse pain than ever. Turns out, (had MRI and follow up in April) that i retore my meniscus and tore part of my cartilage. So im schedule for another surgery in June. Do i qualify for 100% while im recovering from major knee surgery? and if so what steps do i need to take? Parents and a New Car?

I am ready for a new car, I have been driving around a 26 year old Mercedes that is literally falling apart. A couple weeks ago the steering arm just fell or while I was going 60 mph. How to save money and not be tempted to spend it.?

This summer I have been getting loads of money... Yet, every time I have some I am tempted to go to Kohl's and buy something... So basically now I have spent $12 last week and I spent it all on clothes on sale.. And recently I have earned more money, how can I keep myself from being tempted into spending it. I have it in my wallet in a secret slot but yet even then spending it is still on my mind... What should I do? (I don't own any piggy banks that have to be broken to get the money)...

Why does going to the gym make me light headed?

I don't do anything strenuous because I had knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. I was given the OK to go to the gym as long as it was a light workout. I mainly use the treadmill but it makes me light headed. Why is that? It's usually going at a slow speed but even that makes me light headed and sometimes nauseous.

Should my child have a diagnostic arthroscopy for meniscus tear?

Carol, this is my response. She is a child of 13. When you do any surgery there is a chance that something will go wrong. On top of that the latest studies show that you do not want to do any surgery to the knee that will remove meniscus tissue. The reason for this is that the meniscus is a very thin layer of extremely slippery material. This material sits on top of cartilage. Unless the knee is locking caused by a flap of the meniscus it should not be removed. The reason is that once removed it allows the underlying cartilage to be exposed to wear and tear that it should not have. The cartilage will undergo deterioration. This deterioration will over time completely erode away the cartilage leaving the bone exposed causing arthritis. This will cause bony changes and extreme pain which will lead to a more sedentary life style. Eventually a total knee replacement will be necessary at a very early age. Now I am not saying that all of this will happen to your daughter but unless she is capable of winning a college scholarship or going to the Olympics then one really has to wonder if it is worth all of the potential damage to the knee. Remember that if nothing else you are messing with the internal dynamics of the knee joint. This will throw out the alignment of the knee causing problems. I know having treated enough of them. Since your daughter was treated for Lyme's disease it should also be remembered that this doesn't go away immediately. The aftermath of that is joint damage. So at this point my recommendation would be to continue to strengthen both legs especially the uninjured leg. The reason for this is that the body has a reflex in it that when you strengthen the stronger muscle group there is an overflow to the weaker. So in this case it would help to advance the strength of the injured knee more than just doing work on that leg. To me the Lyme's disease is something that should be examined fully for if it is the cause of the problem then the surgery is not going to help it but could make it worse.

Knee Injury looking for some advice?

Does anyone know how Marrow Edema and degeneration of the Medial Meniscus within the posterior horn is treated? Will this heal on its own? What limitations do I need to set for myself? ACL and Meniscus Surgery?

So i had acl and meniscus surgery done about a month and a half ago...my knee was popping before and i told the physical therapist. he said it was normal and to not worry about it. it is still popping and now it locks in to positions sometimes and it hurts. does anybody know whats wrong?

Not at all! I think it's actually a very smart thing to save your money and not blow it on some t-shirts that you probably wont even like in a few years. If she really wants the shirt, she can save up some money! Just make a friendship bracelet or something instead, but you are definitely not being a bad friend.

I feel like my dr messed up my knee surgery?

2 yrs ago I had 2 knee surgeries my first Dr completely removed my medial meniscus and left my torn acl there which resulted in me having a second surgery 3 months later 2 repair my acl at that time my second Dr said my first surgery should have just been a repair bc I was only 24. I am still having trouble with my knee but I no longer have insurance I don't know what 2 do. Can someone give me any advice. I also haven't been able 2 work since then bc I can only stand 4 a few hrs without extreme pain.

I have a question... are you planning on having surgery to repair it or did you have it already? I have worked at a PT clinic and dealt with this stuff a lot. If you haven't had surgery then you may have damaged some of your meniscus or ACL more. If you have had surgery and this happened, well that is just really not good and you probably re-tore your ACL. I would call up your physical therapist or doctor and get his/her advice. As far as treating the pain, icing it for 20-30 minutes every 2-3 hours and taking ibuprofen is really all you can do for now. Good luck!

Tbh there is usually some form of swelling after most sugerys, which is quite common, the fact ur walking on it is a good thing, I would say tho wud be worth consalting ur doctor for more advice and just to be on the safe side

Can you get a Meniscus Tear from an impact such as a baseball hitting the knee?

The hit could have tightened up tendons to make the muscles shorter than normal so it would be painful bending your knee. They can be freed up but finding the person to do it is hard. The medical people don't get into them at all.

Do Anti-Inflammatory Pills Help Recovery or Just Relieve Pain?

I went to my doctor's about my knee, and I have a "torn meniscus" which is knee cartilage. The point being is he prescribed me anti-inflammatory pills called MELOXICAM for this minor sports injury. The pain isn't really bad at all, so I was just wondering if it's at all necessary for me to keep taking these. My only interest is my own recovery. Thanks.

Knee hurting and popping(not at same time)?

My knee hurt around 2 years ago do to running which caused jumper's knee, then it came back in November. It all the sudden went away ( i was in a basketball game in a mob of players and i got out of it my knee was weak and it poped a lot) then it started to hurt on the medial part of my right knee. I went to EOOC and he said it was ok and the popping was from me growing. That was 4 months ago. My knee still hurts and pops many times a day. It is possible that I may have a micro tear in the patella tendon or a meniscus issue. Please help me understand. I'm 13, a girl, 5' 7" ish, muscular, not skinny but not morbidly obese. I also have a womens 11 size shoe. I'm still growing.

I am very sorry for your loss, I really am. Honestly, I feel that your emotional stress is coming from the fact that you haven't expressed your grief yet. You just have to give yourself one moment where you CAN cry it all out, and there's definitely nothing wrong with that. I may be completely wrong in saying this, but if the only reason you can't talk about him is because you're scared of the tears, you should find someone to talk to. Whether it be a friend or a relative. Sometimes I'm the type of person who doesn't want to share with someone close, just because I'm embarassed of saying everything to that person. In that case I talk to my friend's friend, who I haven't even met before, but who keeps in touch through the computer and phone. If that's the case, and you feel better venting to someone who you don't even know just because you feel less judged that way, talk to someone who's more distant from you -- you can even talk to me if that makes it easier for you. But I feel like the best way to get rid of the problem is to just give yourself a moment to let it all out. And always know, whether you're atheist or not, that your father would be proud to know that he meant so much in your life, and that him passing away from cancer only helped him get rid of the pains he would've suffered through if he were here today. I'm sorry if this answer is pointless to you, but I hope to get across that there's always someone who won't judge you from your tears, and you need to know that :)
