After a meniscus tore will my never ever be the same?

I had arthroscopic knee surgery on my meniscus and they removed 1/4 of the lateral meniscus, and its still sore after i do some actives such as lifting even though I've been cleared. Will this affect my sports career and disable me forever? Or will it just be sore and ill just push be able through it?
